We are lucky
to be so close to so many wonderful boating opportunities. Within an
hour's drive from Atlanta there are seven major lakes. Lake Lanier is know
as the inland boating capital. For good reason, it is the most
visited Corp of Engineer's lake in the country. With more than fifty
launching ramps this is a trailer boat paradise. This 1956 man made lake
has 760 miles of shoreline, gorgeous beaches and campsites, and ample
fishing and swimming. The water flows into the lake right out of the
Georgia mountains and is clear and clean. For more information contact: Lake Allatoona, Lake Oconee, Carter's Lake, Lake Sinclair, Westpoint Lake, Lake Hartwell, Lake Burton, Lake Raburn...that's a lot of boating FUN!
The
Atlantic, from Charleston to Jacksonville is only a five hour drive. The
Gulf only six hours. Saltwater and sandy beaches are not far away...
Fun Links: Coastal Georgia offers beautiful sunsets and miles and miles boating waters and tidal creeks. Georgia's coast contains 30 per cent of all the remaining marshes in the country and is protected by many Wildlife Reserves. The majority of the barrier islands, accessible by boat only, have been maintained as wilderness and is an absolute joy to visit. Imagine to be able to see only your footprints in the sand. Trout, Reds, Sheephead, Tarpon, King, Shark and Cobia are the fish of choice. However, there is so much more; history, wildlife viewing, shrimping and exploring. The Georgia coast is an unspoiled adventure.
